Nature Buff Bill Rini Leads Weekly Walks and Talks Along Teaneck Creek Conservancy Trails

TEANECK, N.J., July 6, 2010 – The Teaneck Trailblazers of Heritage Pointe, a walking club formed by residents of the full-service rental retirement community, recently kicked off with an event that brought walkers from the surrounding area to the Teaneck Creek Conservancy. The 46 acres of woodlands, which borders Heritage Pointe, have been the exercise destination for community residents who frequently take brisk daily walks. The group, now led by Heritage Pointe resident and trail guide Bill Rini, has expanded to include retirees from local towns. The Teaneck Trailblazers meet every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. to hike the trails and socialize.

“I really enjoy walking the Conservancy and sharing my knowledge of the plant life with the other walkers,” said Rini, an avid outdoorsman and a founding member of the residence’s walking club.

Rini prepared detailed information packets on the plant life found along the trails, which was distributed to the walkers at the kick-off event. He also provides live commentary on what they find during their twice-weekly walks. Rini plans to hand out more information every season to reflect the changes in nature the walkers will observe throughout the year. In addition to the Monday and Wednesday scheduled walks, he hopes that area residents will take self-guided walks at their leisure.

Rini pointed out that Heritage Pointe provides plenty of parking for walkers, plus hydration and restroom facilities. “People who are interested can come to Heritage Pointe to pick up a handout and enjoy a nature walk on their own,” he said.

“Mr. Rini is able to channel his love of nature into a great educational and fitness activity that benefits not only our residents but older adults from the surrounding area as well,” said Lorraine Amendola, Heritage Pointe’s life enrichment director. “The Teaneck Trailblazers club also enhances our relationship with the Teaneck Creek Conservancy,” she added. Heritage Pointe recently aligned with the non-profit organization to offer educational programming and events to its residents and the surrounding community.

The Teaneck Trailblazers of Heritage Pointe reflects the active lifestyle that residents enjoy at the retirement community. Heritage Pointe offers a full schedule of social, cultural, recreational and educational programs; spacious rental apartments with housekeeping; fine dining; and distinctive amenities.

Heritage Pointe of Teaneck is located at 600 Frank W. Burr Boulevard, near Route 4 just off of Interstates 80 and 95. To register for the Teaneck Trailblazers, or for more information about the Heritage Pointe lifestyle, call (201) 836-9260 or visit www.heritagepointeofteaneck.com.
