Lorraine Amendola Joins Heritage Pointe of Teaneck as Life Enrichment Director

Programming Professional Brings Wealth of Experience and Ideas to Rental Retirement Community

TEANECK, N.J., May 14, 2010 – Heritage Pointe of Teaneck announces the addition of Life Enrichment Director Lorraine Amendola to the professional staff of the full-service rental retirement community. Amendola oversees the planning and execution of all programs for the community's residents, which encompass a wide range of cultural outings, educational lectures and entertainment events.

"I began my career in nursing homes, before the concept of an active retirement community like Heritage Pointe even existed," explained Amendola, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in recreational therapy from St. Thomas Aquinas College. Over the years she transitioned to assisted living and then independent living senior residences throughout northern New Jersey. Amendola said the active lifestyle maintained by the Heritage Pointe residents allows her to schedule an eclectic selection of cultural, educational and social programs that reflect their diverse interests. "It's great to be someplace where I can gear programs to folks who are eager to get up and go."

Heritage Pointe residents and guests enjoy outings to museums and Broadway shows; lectures on art history, photography and music; workshops on topics such as financial planning and health and wellness; and social events around holiday commemorations and celebrations.

"Our residents have led such interesting lives, and they continue to look for ways to nurture their hobbies and interests; that's part of what makes my job so stimulating," noted Amendola. "As life enrichment director, my goal is to engage our current residents and provide opportunities for older area adults to sample the Heritage Pointe lifestyle."

Amendola said that in addition to working with active older adults, she was attracted to the retirement community's elegant appointments and beautiful surroundings. "Our Walking Club takes advantage of our location adjacent to the Teaneck Creek Conservancy woodlands," she said of the 46 acres of wooded trails. A hearty group of

Heritage Pointe residents walk the trails daily when weather permits.

"Lorraine brings nearly twenty years of experience to the job and an open mind when it comes to programming," stated executive director Donna Zayat. "She listens to residents' suggestions about what activities they would enjoy, and she ensures there will always be something for everyone at Heritage Pointe."

Heritage Pointe of Teaneck is located at 600 Frank W. Burr Boulevard near Route 4 just off of Interstates 80 and 95. The community offers spacious apartments, distinctive amenities, and fine dining for active retirees.
