A full service retirement community

for today's mature adults

Remembering the Holocaust, at Heritage Pointe

Heritage Pointe of Teaneck, a full-service retirement community, recently hosted Holocaust survivor Charles Roman, who discussed his harrowing experiences and presented the 2010 documentary “A Pause in the Holocaust.”  The film focuses on an Alpine French village that was occupied by Italy for nine months during 1943. The protection provided by the Italian army to the 1,200 Jews who moved into the village – including a young Charles Roman – was the “pause” referenced in the film’s title. But this brief lull in the horrors of the Holocaust ended abruptly in September of 1943, as Italy surrendered and Nazi forces invaded the area.
